We believe China is leading the world in gaming, and that the next generation of game worlds will be developed by the prosperous Chinese Game Development Community. We are looking for talented individuals to join our Shanghai Office, our core hub and headquarters for APAC Operations. 

Your Mission

As Strategic Account BD Director, you will be responsible for cultivating and qualifying high-impact business opportunities within the strategic account in games industry. You will leverage your existing network, along with generating leads through industry events, meetings and conferences to drive the adoption of Improbable SpatialOS and Game Operation platform amongst games studios. 

Our business development team leverages their unique knowledge of developers, publishers and the games market to identify the best partners to work on the next generation of online multiplayer games.

Some of your responsibilities will include, but not limited to: 

  • Developing and generating new business across the strategic account in the games industry, and drive the adoption of improbable SpatialOS and Game platforms. 

  • Develop strategic partnership and business plans with strategic account/(s), Identifying and prioritising key opportunities and development partners that can take advantage of Improbable technology to deliver strategic projects. 

  • Maintaining a curated portfolio of development partners working with Improbable technology, supported by Improbable game staff around the world across a variety of expected interaction levels.

  • Creating business opportunities and innovative partnership models with strategic games account in China and finding new opportunities for cooperation.

  • Negotiating and facilitating the closing of contracts for these relationships.


  • Reputable business development leader from within the games industry, ideally with prior experience with a vendor or studio (e.g. cloud provider, console manufacturer etc)
  • Ideally a games developer network with extensive connections to indie developers, or eager to work in the games industry (if prior experience with a vendor or studio)
  • Experienced selling to and working with C-Level and senior members of prospective clients.
  • Technically articulate.
  • Evidence of building cooperative, trusting and mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Strong networker and natural rapport builder.
  • Ability to accurately assess the risks in relationships and developments.
  • Have the potential to manage a larger business development team when required.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the region to bring SpatialOS to the gaming world.
